Ingredients:

  • 2 banana, small, ripe
  • 1 cup almond milk or a liquid of your choice

Avoid oxidation:

  • 1 tsp lemon or lime or orange juice

Tip: The banana smoothie is best prepared just before serving it. Because after opening and blending the fruit tends to oxidize. Adding citrus juice prevents the reaction. Use the citrus fruit in moderation that its sour taste does not overpower.

Variations:

Sometimes the fruit has not reached its full ripeness and requires additional sweetener. Then consider adding a pitted date.

When feeling adventurous, consider adding a special something to the simple banana smoothie recipe for kids. Variations that found positive feedback are either adding a pinch of ground nutmeg or a pinch of ground cinnamon. Adding vanilla essence works well alone or with one of the above spices.
