My best fruit smoothie recipes and some tips to go along with.

After reading up on 'how to make a smoothie' I am guessing that all you need are
some ideas to get you started. Take a peek at our tried and tested breakfast smoothies and when you‘ve thought of the perfect combination and tried it out upload it to our website so others can try your creation and share feedback and ideas.

fruit smoothie

These recipes are suitable for three large tumbler sized glasses that make together roughly 1 litre. These smoothies are dense on fruit, should you prefer them more liquidy the add more of the base liquid and less fruit.

Plum smoothie

  • 6-8 plums
  • 2 bananas
  • Cinnamon and sugar to taste (depending on the plum variety some are quite sour and appreciate additional sugar so blend and try before adding sugar)
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Feijoa, pear smoothie

  • 5 feijoas (depending on size)
  • 2 pears
  • 1-2 bananas
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Orange smoothie

  • 3-4 oranges (depending on size)
  • 1-2 bananas
  • Try:
  • The following two ingredients go well with the orange - banana smoothie.
  • 3 mandarins (seedless or cut open to remove seeds)
    or
    3 tablespoons of desiccated coconut

Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Pawpaw or papaya smoothie

  • 1 pawpaw
  • 1-2 bananas
  • 1 orange
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

The paw paw makes the smoothie quite creamy so adjust liquid to preference.

Persimmon, orange and banana smoothie

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 persimmons
  • 1 orange
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Berry smoothie recipes
Strawberry smoothie

  • 500g strawberries
  • 1-2 bananas

Sugar to taste (depending on fruit ripeness, blend and try before adding, but often some sugar enhances the flavour)

Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Raspberry smoothie

This smoothie is a refreshing snack for hot summer days. The flavour comes out best when some sugar is added.

  • 250 gr frozen raspberries
  • 2-3 bananas
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir

Green smoothies
Kale smoothie

  • 2 large bananas
  • 3 kale leafs
  • 2 pears
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Spinach smoothie

  • 2 small-medium bananas
  • about 20 spinach leafs (depending on size, helpful tip: smaller pieces blend better)
  • 2 small pears
  • Choose: yoghurt, milk, buttermilk, kefir, or nutmilk

Dairy Free Smoothie

Almond, banana and pear

  • Handful of almonds soaked in 1/2 litre water overnight
  • 3 bananas
  • 3 pears

Method: blend the almonds with the water first then add the rest of the ingredients and blend as usual.
